Affix Welcomes Nappy Roots

Affix is proud to welcome the award-winning Nappy Roots to our family of Music Providers. Signed to Atlantic Records in 2000, Nappy Roots chose to end its affiliation with the major label and is now a highly successful independent act, utilizing new model revenue generators such as the one-stop licensing Affix provides.  Focusing on Nappy Roots latest release, 2010's Pursuit of Nappyness, Affix represents licensing for six highlight tracks, including: "Be Alright," "Come Back Home," "Fishbowl," "P.O.N.," "Ride" and "Infield." Both instrumental and lyrical versions of each track can be streamed and licensed on the Affix Music site, utilizing the company’s cloud-based platform. “Over the past decade, there has been a power shift back to the music creator, and Nappy Roots showed both vision and courage in paving their own path,” says Affix Music co-founder Simon Horrocks. “It is our hope that working together with Nappy Roots will continue to draw attention to the fact that record companies aren’t the only place to turn today in order to license music for media and that there are alternatives to the record deal for talented artists to get heard and compensated.”
